The disease can also affect mucous membranes in the eyes, mouth, throat, and respiratory tract, leading to internal injuries that can make essential activities, such as eating, difficult.
Experts at No Baby Blisters say that EB is often first noticed in infancy, where severe cases can result in blistering in up to 80% of the body, leading to significant pain, disfigurement, life-threatening loss of body fluid, and even death.
