About 65 percent of Filipinos report a high awareness of mental health issues, but only about a third know what actions to take when facing psychological challenges, according to the 2025 AXA Mind Health Study.
The research reveals a significant disconnect in the Philippines, which ranks among the highest globally for awareness but struggles with a lack of practical response strategies. The gap leaves many individuals vulnerable to worsening conditions and long-term emotional distress.

Mind You head of research and development Paula Ferrer Cheng said awareness without action leaves people stuck. She said that education should accompany awareness efforts to ensure early warning signs do not escalate into long-term distress.
The study found that individuals who are well-informed about specific signs and available support systems report significantly better mental well-being outcomes than those who are not. To address this, AXA Philippines has launched a free and anonymous Mind Health Self-Check tool to provide users with an accessible overview of their emotional state.
The digital tool evaluates three areas including current state of mind, skills and beliefs, and lifestyle. Users receive a Mind Health Index score ranging from 0 to 100 based on AXA’s proprietary methodology.
AXA Philippines chief executive Ayman Kandil said real progress happens when people know they can take action with the right support.
